This is Eric and Carl's web site.  For their summer 2007 job (with the goal of buying a Wii playstation) Carl and Eric became the"Raspberry Boys".

The business was their grandfather's idea, he has the raspberry bushes.  Their grandfather, Roger, taught them about raspberries and helped them pick. He lives in Portland Oregon.  He has many bushes on his property, all of one variety.  He uses no pesticides, and waters them at the base.  It turns out that birds don't like raspberries, so he doesn't have to do anything special to prevent them from eating the crop.

Carl and Eric picked and sold the berries.  They took orders they delivered.  They collected money, and made change.

Their father, Bill, bought the plastic containers, and the boys had to pay him back; they learned a little bit about expense and overhead.

The orders from Shriner's Hospital and mom's dermatology office made up for the bulk of their business.  They also went door to door, with their special wagon, selling as well.  Door to door is hard work!  Thank you for all those people at Shriner's and the dermatology office for buying berries, and ordering more, too!

We will be back in the Summer of 2008!  The season only lasts about 3 weeks.

It takes a little know-how to recognize
the berries that are ready to pick,
you know when you've got it right
because they come off easily.
We washed our hands before picking,
 then put them straight
into the "clam-shells" as they got picked,
 so they wouldn't get hurt.

This is a close up view of the raspberries.
Some are ripe now, some will be ready later.
We picked twice per week.
